Good Guys Car Show-March 2014

THE GOOD GUYS CAR SHOW-MARCH 2014

32nd ANNUAL ALL AMERICAN-GET TOGETHER

SAT & SUN, MARCH 29-30, 2014; PLEASANTON CA

As always, the Good Guys Pleasanton Show was a true car guy’s Mecca. This being the 32nd Annual All American Get-Together, it was even better, if you like classic American Iron. Hundreds of gorgeous classic and custom cars filled the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton CA on Saturday & Sunday, March 29 & 30, 2014. And as always, it was a true family event. In addition to one terrific car show, this year Good Guys Autocross returned, with lots of daredevils blasting their cars around the tight course. There was an enormous Swap Meet, a Car Corral, and more vendors than you could count. What a show!

ABOVE: How many show-quality Camaros can you see before you get sick of seeing them? That’s not possible, you can never see enough Camaros. this ’69 Z28/RS is just one example of the eye-candy at the Good Guys.
BELOW: Now this is typical of a Good Guys Show: Lotsa chrome, billet and a monstrous supercharger bursting up through the hood. Gotta love it!

While the majority of the 1,000+ cars were outside, arrayed on the lawns and under the trees of the Fairgrounds, there were 3 buildings full of cars. Good thing too, as the rain poured down on Saturday. Sunday was clear, thank goodness.

BELOW: You can see just about anything at a Good Guys Car Show. What do you call it?

ABOVE: Like I said, you can see just about anything at one of these shows. The paintjob of the rod above was breathtaking. Clean & elegantly simple, the effect was nothing short of amazing, and one that pictures can do justice to. It looked like bare metal, transitioning from brushed aluminum in the back into polished brass in the middle, and then to copper up front. It was so well done that it really looked like 3 different metals mysteriously melded together.
BELOW: Check out this lovely ’69 Dodge Charger. They don’t get much nicer than this.

GOOD GUYS CAR SHOW-MARCH 2014 – JUDGING
This was a judged show, as all Good Guys Car Shows are. At the end of the weekend, the winners rolled through the adoring crowds in front of the judges stand to receive their trophies.
ABOVE: This is a truly interesting car. It’s a modern C6 Corvette with a custom C2 (’63- ’67) body.

BELOW: What better pick for top Muscle Car than this ’70 Chevelle SS.

GOOD GUYS CAR SHOW-MARCH 2014 – CAR CORRAL & SWAP MEET
ABOVE: There were hundreds of cars for sale in the Car Corral, which was literally a car show unto itself. I actually prefer it in some ways, as you get to see real cars, daily drivers & projects, not trailer-queen show cars.

BELOW: As always, there was an enormous Swap Meet with hundreds of vendors & private parties selling parts, accessories, tools, collectibles, and just about anything else you can think of. Check out that Cigar Store Wooden Indian.

ABOVE: Intake manifold, anyone? Or should I say, he has manifold manifolds.
BELOW: Inside the show, there were numerous vendors also. I’m not sure, but I think this guy sells neon signs.
