2010 Dodge Challenger
2010 DODGE CHALLENGER RETRO ROCKET
Few good things came out of the marriage between Dodge Mercedes-Benz (Daimler-Chrysler). One very good thing was the one-generation-old (by that time) E-class platform that was used to underpin every RWD car in Chrysler’s inventory. The Chrysler 300 D, the Magnum (I loved those!), the Dodge Charger were all spun off this versatile chassis. Obviously, if you’re going to build a pony car off a full-size luxury car (the 300), it’s going to be big. And it was, bigger than the Mustang or Camaro, but somehow it worked. Dodge discovered that there is a market for plus-size pony cars, with a decent trunk and back seat. What a concept? Loading it up with a ground-pounding Hemi V8 more than made up for the added weight. And Dodge did a stellar job of styling the new Challenger, introduced as a 2008-model. It is instantly recognizable as a Challenger, looking very faithful to the original and yet thoroughly modern. In my humble opinion, the modern-day Dodge Challenger (like this 2010-model) is THE best retro design produced anywhere, by anyone.

TWO BROTHERS SEPARATED BY 40 YEARS
The lucky owner of this gorgeous 2010 Challenger R/T also owns a 1970 Challenger T/A, which he displayed side-by-side at the 2014 Nostalgia Day Car Show in Downtown Livermore. Parked next to each other really allows you to appreciate just how fine a job the Dodge Boys did at recreating this muscle car legend. The modern Challenger is at the same time a faithful interpretation of the original, and a totally modern car. Both are drop-dead gorgeous!!
