2006 Ford Mustang GT

2006 FORD MUSTANG GT BACKGROUND
After completely restyling the Mustang in 2005, Ford sold 170,000 of the new "Retro-styled" Mustangs to an adoring public. The new/old car was an instant hit. Ford had done a terrific job of nailing the "retro-thing" without going to far, or not going far enough. The new design was clean, unadorned, and very "Classic Mustang". I know, I love the look so much I bought one. With sales this good, and lots of media buzz, Ford wisely changed little from 2005 to 2006. Good thing too, because retooling for a new generation is hard work, and they'd just completed it the year before. This retro-Stang would soldier on pretty much unchanged through the 2008 model year. While the 5th-gen platform would remain, they reworked the front and year for 2009, making it look shorter and fatter. Personally, I didn't like the new look. Why would anyone want a short, fat Mustang anyway? But that's another story. These lovely 2005-2009 Ford Mustangs stand out as great designs, great cars, and a lot of car for the money. Today, on the used market, these Mustangs represent one of the best performance bargains out there. Good used ones are on the market for $8,000-10,000 today in 2017.
