1967 Plymouth GTX

1967 PLYMOUTH GTX PACKAGE
The GTX was intended to be Plymouth’s top Muscle Car with the best of everything they had to work with. They started with the midsized Belvedere, added a new front and rear facia, faux hood scoops, a “pit stop”-style flip-up gas cap, and optional stripes. Heavy duty suspension was standard on all GTXs as was the Super Commando 440 V8 rated at 375hp.

1967 PLYMOUTH GTX ENGINE OPTIONS
The standard 440 V8 was good for a 6.5-second zero-to-60 time and could run the quarter in 15.2 seconds at 97mph. For $546 more (a lot of money in 1967), you could option up to “The Elephant Motor”, the 426 Hemi V8 conservatively rated at 425hp. With two 4-barrel carbs and barely streetable cam profile, it actually made something north of 500hp, but was almost totally undrivable as a daily street car. Few were sold. However, if you got one you could hit 60 in just 4.8 seconds, and do the quarter in 13.5 seconds at 105mph. Not shabby for 1967. Not shabby today! Of course, if you are lucky enough to have a Hemi GTX, you’d be crazy to run the crap out of it like that. You’re sitting on a gold mine. But of course, you already know that.
