1966 CHEVY NOVA – THE NEXT GENERATION
1966 marks the beginning of the 2nd-generation for the Chevy II model lineup, of which the Nova was the top model. The all new body had sharper, straighter lines and crisper creases. While the look changed considerably, overall dimensions little. Engines, transmissions and other mechanicals also remained fairly unchanged from the prior generation. It was built in 4 body styles: 2-door Sedan, 2-door Hardtop, 4-door Sedan and 4-door Station Wagon.

1966 CHEVY NOVA SS STYLING CHANGES
The Nova SS was distinguished from lesser models by its wide bright aluminum rocker trim panels and truck lid trim panel. And of course, there was plenty of identification, in the form of SS emblems on the front grille and rear trim panel as well as “Super Sport” chrome script on the rear fenders. All Nova SSs came with Strato Bucket front seats and a tachometer was optional. The spinner-style wheel covers were borrowed from the ’65 Chevelle SS.

1966 CHEVY NOVA ENGINE LINEUP
The standard engine for a base line 100-series Nova was the course old Iron Duke 4-cylinder. The standard engine for a Nova SS was the 195hp 194ci inline-6, which was available on all Chevy IIs and Novas. There was also a 220hp 230ci six, a 275hp 283 V8, and the Turbo Fire 327 V8 making 350hp. The 2-speed Powerglide automatic was not available on the 350hp engine.
