Specialty Sales Classic Cars
COLLECTOR CAR DEALERSHIP

SPECIALTY SALES CLASSIC CARS – 4 LOCATIONS
Specialty Sales Classics is one of the largest classic car dealers in the West. They have 4 large showrooms in the San Francisco Bay Area, in Redwood City, Benicia, Fairfield, and their flagship store in Pleasanton. Between them, they have some 200 gorgeous classic cars, hot rods, exotics and more, on hand at any give time. And their friendly staff are knowledgeable and helpful without getting in your face.

How much better does it get than this? ’68 Camaro, Mach I, Big Block Vette, Firebird convertible, Chevelle SS…

SPECIALTY SALES FINDS CLASSIC CARS
Any one of their 4 showrooms is bristling with 50+ mind-blowing cars, and if they don’t have what you’re looking for, they can quickly access the inventory at their other 3 stores to find you just the right car. If that doesn’t do it, the experts at Specialty can locate a car for you anywhere in the country, or even in the world. Classic cars are all unique, no two are alike. Because of this, many buyers are willing to ship their dream car great distances if it will get them just what they’re looking for. New cars can be ordered. Classic cars must be found. And they’re not always right in your back yard.

SPECIALTY SALES CLASSIC CARS UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP
Specialty Sales in Pleasanton has been around for decades, and has been a local landmark as well as a significant force in the Bay Area classic car scene. It changed hands in 2010, now owned by a prominent businessman/car collector who changed the name ever so slightly to Specialty Sales Classics Classics being the new operative word. He has since expanded it to its present size, with 4 locations, and has plans to continue the expansion. We’ll keep you posted.

SPECIALTY SALES CLASSIC CARS DOING CLEAN BUSINESS
The new owners of Specialty Sales Classics take great pride in running a clean, honest, straight-up dealership with no shady practices or funny business. That’s very important in any business, but even more so in this one since most of their cars are there on consignment. In other words, each car is owned by an individual who places it with Specialty Sales Classics to help them sell it. Unlike new car dealerships, who get their product direct from the manufacturer, consignment stores like Specialty must find cars they would like to sell, then establish a relationship with the seller of the car that allows them to place it on their showroom for sale. The relationship can be the hard part if the dealership has a shady reputation, whether it’s with sellers or buyers. Specialty Sales Classics goes out of their way to make sure everyone is dealt with fairly and honestly.

SPECIALTY SALES CLASSIC CARS – TRANSPORT & FINANCE
The professionals at Specialty Sales Classics can not only find you a car, they can arrange to have in inspected by an expert local to the car, arrange transport, and even get it financed for you. Of course you can finance the cars you buy locally as well, and they take trade-ins of every kind. It doesn’t even have to be a classic.

SPECIALTY SALES CLASSIC CARS WELL-PRESENTED
Whether you’re there to buy your next classic, or just stroll through at your own pace and enjoy the cars, museum-style, Specialty Sales Classics is the place to do it. All of their showrooms are large and well-lit, and aren’t so packed with cars that its impossible to move around. The cars are nicely presented, with enough space between them to actually get a good eyeful, or poke your head through the window for a look inside. They’re clean and well-presented. The showrooms are decorated with car memorabilia, neon signs, car posters, etc. I’ve been in all 4 stores, and they are all very nice.

SPECIALTY SALES CLASSIC CARS NEAR TO MY HEART
Specialty Sales has a very special place in my heart. From 1995 to 1998, I worked as Specialty Sales in Pleasanton, when it was the only store, both as a salesperson, then later as the store manager. During those 3 short years there, I worked mostly with two other salespeople who ended up being among my closest friends. We worked together consigning and selling these amazing cars, searching the US for cars for buyers (before the internet), and acting as curators for this museum-like attraction, so popular with the locals. Back in those days, there weren’t nearly as many classic car dealerships as there are today, so people would drive great distances just to come see the cars. Others would spend their lunch hour strolling the aisles. And if you had visitors from out of town, you always took them to see Specialty Sales. We were envied for the jobs we had, getting to play with these great classic cars all day long. We felt like rock stars. And we sold a lot of wonderful cars to some really nice people. What a blast. I’ll never forget it.

Standing out in the crowd: a Mopar muscle car trifecta.

SPECIALTY SALES CLASSIC CARS – OLD CAR SMELL
Today, 16 years after I left Specialty to open my own classic car dealership, Camaro Headquarters, as soon as I walk through the door the smell of the place hits me. All the memories come flooding back in. Talk about nostalgia. You’ve heard of “New Car Smell”? Well this is “Old Car Smell”, the combination of gasoline, exhaust and mohair. It’s the way all cars used to before the days of fuel injection and modern plastics. When you walk into any closed building with old cars in it, you’ll know what I’m talking about. If you’re like me, you’ll love it. If you’ve been around as long as I have, it will bring back memories you may have forgotten about, until now.

Specialty Sales Classics deals in a lot of older European cars also, along with modern exotics like Ferraris and Lambos. If you haven’t noticed already, much of Specialty’s inventory is made up of more reasonably-priced driver-quality cars, not trailer queens.

Modern Muscle is alive & well at Specialty Sales Classics. 3 hot new Mustangs & a Viper!!

They have their share of Street Rods and Customs also.

SPECIALTY SALES CLASSIC CARS – SERVICE CENTER
Specialty Sales Classics has a full mechanics shop and service center devoted to the repair, maintenance and customization of classic and special-interest cars. Their highly-trained staff know classic cars, and do them right.

SPECIALTY SALES CLASSIC CARS – EVENT CENTER
Specialty’s Fairfield location (a former Walmart with 130,000 square feet of floorspace) not only houses a 100-car showroom and the Service Center, it is home to a 100,000 square foot Event Center that can be rented for large events. I could see a big indoor car show or classic car auction being conducted in here with room to spare. There is also a large secure area for indoor car storage, so if you’re looking for a place to store you ’55 Nomad, call them.
