Goodguys Car Show-June 2016
June 4-5, 2016 in Pleasanton CA

The Opening Ceremonies

GOODGUYS CAR SHOW-JUNE 2016 OPENS WITH...DRAGSTERS!
The Goodguys Car Shows always open with the Star-Spangled Banner, and sometimes they throw in a little something extra. It's a very patriotic moment, and it feels great to see everyone, thousands of people, stop in their tracks, put their hands over their heart to honor our National Anthem. But this time, they had four vintage dragsters parked on the grounds. And as the National Anthem finished and the crowd cheered, they started firing up those awesome dragsters. The ground literally shook as they fired up one at a time, let it warm up for a few minutes, then shut it down before it got hot. Then they'd fire up the next one and so on. It was quite impressive. Good thing they were handing out earplugs. Because those big blown hemis made a ground-shaking display of American might. Check out the video "Star-Spangled Dragsters" on our new YouTube Channel.

The Show, the Cars, the Day...

GOODGUYS CAR SHOW-JUNE 2016, IT'S ALL ABOUT THE CARS
The appeal of Goodguys Car Shows for many people, particularly baby boomers like myself, is that the bulk of the cars on display are cars that normal people can aspire to. Heck, long before these were considered classics, they were inexpensive used cars for guys like me. Even today, with the rising prices of classic cars, it's still possible for a normal everyday Joe to own one of these incredible pieces of rolling history. I've also attended high-end Concourse shows like Pebble Beach and Monterey Car Week et al, and while impressive, many of those cars are not only beyond my reach, but beyond my understanding as well. And you're not going to jump in your 1934 Delahaye and drive to the store for a gallon of milk, but you might in your '69 Camaro.
GOODGUYS CAR SHOW-JUNE 2016 HAS IT ALL
If you like cars, they got 'em. Muscle cars, classic cars, custom cars, lowriders, lead sleds, race cars, historic cars, trucks, military vehicles, hot rods, street rods, rat rods, etc. etc.
ABOVE: The Corvette bunch always shows up in force.
BELOW: There is a whole section in the fairgrounds set aside for trucks, old and new.
ABOVE: The Car Corral had hundreds of great old cars for sale, and some not so old. There were some real deals out there.

"My Favorite Flamejob"-CONTEST

It's really more of a drawing than a contest. To enter, all you have to do is pick your two favorites, one your favorite Modern Flamejob, and the other your favorite Classic Flamejob. You have three choices of each below. Email your two picks to FLAMEJOB ENTRY by June 30, 2016 to qualify for the drawing. One lucky winner will receive a copy of Rod Powell's book "Flame Painting Techniques". To qualify for the drawing, your must have 2 picks, one Modern and one Classic; your mailing address must be included and must be in the US; and we must receive your email no later than midnight on June 30, 2016.

MODERN FLAMEJOB #1 - Very clean.

MODERN FLAMEJOB #2 - Kinda scary! Ghost-painted skulls throughout.

MODERN FLAMEJOB #3 - Kind of different.

CLASSIC FLAMEJOB #1 - Sweet!!

CLASSIC FLAMEJOB #2 - Delicious!!

CLASSIC FLAMEJOB #3 - Uh, what?

This rat rod has a hand-painted flamejob. Heck it looks like he did it with model paints and one of those little paintbrushes you used to use. This one is interesting for another reason even than that one. The owner/operator/artist is in a wheelchair and this rod has hand-controls. Check them out below. He breaks down his wheelchair, throws the pieces in the back, and away he goes. But don't let that affect your judging. This is a contest for "Your Favorite Flamejob", remember?

MORE TO COME FROM AMERICAN-MUSCLE-CARS.NET
WE’RE JUST GETTING STARTED

We are growing as fast as we can, gathering and taking eye-popping photos of awesome Classic American Muscle Cars, doing research on specifications and history, and writing content. We all love these great cars, so it’s not like work, in fact, it’s a blast. But it does take time. If you see that we’re lacking in some area, we just don’t have the photos and/or content yet to finish. Give us some time and as we get more eye-popping photos, we will continue to flesh out the site. Join us as we grow, but please be patient with that growth.

PS: Special thanks go out to Specialty Sales (www.SpecialtySales.com) for the hundreds of eye-popping pictures they've allowed us to use. Specialty has 4 classic car showrooms in the San Francisco Bay Area full of gorgeous classics. We'd also like to thank The Goodguys (www.good-guys.com) for putting on some of the best car shows around, and allowing me to take all these great pictures. Thanks again to you both.
