This would be the last year for a convertible Corvette until 1986. 1975 was also the first year for catalytic converters and HEI (High-Energy Ignition). The ’75 Corvette also gets another distinction. It’s the first Corvette since 1964 to be offered with only one engine displacement. There were actually two engine choices, but they were both 350s. The rubber rear bumper went from 2-pieces with a vertical seam down the middle to a one-piece this year. 1975 was more or less the low point for Chevy performance-wise. They went so far as to drop the Z/28 from the 1975 Camaro lineup. (It was back by 1976.

The interior is largely carried over from prior years, awash in cheap-looking vinyl seats and thin carpeting. This would be the last year for Astro Ventilation and the first year for the new headlight warning buzzer.

There certainly wasn’t much to crow about in the 1975 Chevrolet Corvette engine lineup. The standard engine was a smogged-down, low-compression 350 barely wheezing out 150 horsepower. Shameful! The top engine, and the only other option for 1975, was also a 350 with slightly higher compression and tuning making a whopping 205 horses! 1975 would mark a low point in Chevy performance.
