1967 OLDSMOBILE 442 BACKGROUND
Oldsmobile spun the 442 off of the Cutlass/F-85. For the 1967 model year, it was offered in three body styles: The Holiday Coupe (2-doors with no post), the Sport Coupe (2-doors with a post), and the Convertible. Appearance-wise, the 442 received a special black-out treatment on the grille, along with a 442-only hood with two banks of working louvers, and of course, the usual handful of special badging. Underneath, the suspension and brakes were beefed up with off-the-shelf Police Package components (including shocks, springs and stabilizer bars), along with stronger front engine mounts and a heavy duty driveshaft. All 1967 Oldsmobile 442s got a 400 V8, albeit in three forms, with 300hp, 350hp and 360hp. The W-30 continued to be the top-performance option package.

1967 OLDSMOBILE 442 ENGINE OPTIONS
There were three available engines for the ’67 442, and all were 400s. The base engine was the L66 400 V8 with 300 horsepower. Next up was the Rocket V8 with 350 horses, then at the top of the heap was the W-30 400 with 360 horsepower. The 1967 Oldsmobile 442 with top-line W30 option was capable of a 6.5-second zero-to-60 time, and it could cover the 1/4-mile in 14.1 seconds at 103 mph. Heady stuff in 1967. The base transmission remained a 3-speed manual, with the 3-speed Turbo Hydramatic, and two 4-speeds (one with close-ratios) optional. All had floor- or console-mounted shifters.
