1963 CHEVY IMPALA GETS SLEEK NEW SKIN
Midway through the 3rd-generation of Chevy Impala, the 1963 got a complete reskin, giving it a much cleaner, more modern look. Gone was all the excess chrome and overwrought styling. In it’s place was a much straighter, squarer car with crisp creases and straight lines. It truly did usher in the modern age of automotive styling. The rear tail light panel was brushed aluminum with a chrome surround, and SS models got a machine-turned surface treatment.

1963 CHEVY IMPALA INTERIOR CHANGES & UPGRADES
A new instrument panel took on a “coved” shape, replaced the temp gauge with an “idiot light”, and made a place for the optional tachometer, front-and-center over the steering column. Few were ordered outside of the Super Sports.

1963 CHEVY IMPALA ENGINE OPTIONS
Gone were the W-series 348 and 409 V8s. And the top secret new big block “Mystery Motors” wouldn’t arrive until 1965. So for now, the engine choices consisted of 235ci Stove-Bolt 6-cylinders, and the usual range of 283 and 327 small block V8s.
